A recently divorced woman moves into a 3×3-meter shed and transforms it into a charming little home

Many people are experimenting with the lifestyle in tiny houses.

They have various reasons for transitioning to such small homes.

Many choose to live in a tiny house for environmental reasons.

They want to be more mindful in their daily lives and reduce their carbon footprint.

Some desire to adopt a simple and minimalist lifestyle.

Living in a tiny house forces residents to reduce their possessions, live more simply, and be more conscious.

Tiny houses are also easier to clean and maintain!

They are cost-effective and easier to move.

Heather is a world traveler who has lived in a van.

Due to the pandemic and to rebuild her life after the divorce, she decided to transition from van life to a house.

And, of course, after living in a van, it’s natural to move into a tiny house.

But transforming a 10×11-foot shed (about 3×3 meters) into a tiny house? Is it possible?

For Heather, it is! And this will also be her first owned home.

From the outside, it looks rather simple. She didn’t do much, just what she needed because who knows what she’ll do next year or if she’ll still live there.

It might seem simple, but it has everything she needs.

Entering the shed, she has a workspace on the right overlooking the window.

Such a wonderful view to be inspired by every day (or distracted, depending on the day) during work.

On the left, she has a small and cozy living room, where she also set up a swinging desk to support her laptop during movie nights.

And she has cushions, many cushions on her couch.

Facing the entrance, Heather has her fireplace/kitchen/toilet.

On the left, she has a wood stove, which, though more expensive than expected, offered her the comforting warmth she needed during humid and rainy weather.

And it’s the perfect remedy for bad winter weather.

From the middle to the right, you find the kitchen. It’s not a large kitchen.

She has a sink, but Heather hasn’t installed a proper drainage system yet, so she only uses it to store dirty dishes. She uses a camping stove, perfect because she cooks only for herself.

Above the kitchen are her open shelves, where she proudly displays her glassware and dishes.

Her supplies are also stored here.

Her small fridge comes from her mother, and she has hung all the fridge magnets she collected during her travels.

Believe it or not, she has a lot of drawers and storage space in the shed for her food, shoes, clothes, and even books, including her compostable toilet under the sink.

And at the top of her tiny house, near the roof and above the living room, she has her loft bedroom.

It’s not the perfect design, but it’s the right solution for the space she has.

Moreover, she only uses it for sleeping.

„What I love about the whole space is just the atmosphere,“ Heather shared.

„For the first time in my life, I had control over what I wanted, and I really like that it’s open and airy.

It feels like an indoor/outdoor life.

It’s easy to have a safe space that belongs to me and inspires me to create something.“

Heather did an excellent job transforming this tiny house into a beautiful home.
