A man has transformed an abandoned storage tower into a beautiful two-bedroom house – take a look!

Imagine driving along the picturesque Highway 50 to Elmdale and turning west.

In just 90 minutes, you’ll find yourself immersed in the authentic tranquility of Kansas.

Listen to the rustling of leaves, admire an untouched night sky, and immerse yourself in a golden serenity.

In the heart of West Chase County, surrounded by lush soybean fields and embraced by a gentle river valley, stands an accommodation facility in a silo, known as the Owl’s Nest Silo House.

This is not just a house; it’s a carefully designed log cabin built in 2019 that you can call home for at least a weekend.

Gerald Wiens, the man behind this retreat, originally envisioned building a cabin for sporadic weekend rentals.

„We decided to build a cabin and rent it out for weekends, hoping for Airbnb.

We were thinking just a few weekends a month,“ he said.

However, he did not anticipate the high demand during the pandemic year, when the Paw Print Cabin was booked for over 180 nights!

Near the cabin was a tall old silo.

It was in admirable condition and inspired Gerald with an idea.

With a bit of creativity, sketches, models, and reflections on the plans, he set to work transforming the silo into a living space.

However, the circular structure presented some challenges.

„That’s basically what happened. And then, you know, we looked at a lot of ideas.

We had drawn small models. We had different plans,“ Gerald said according to KSN.

The result? A four-story masterpiece standing 45 feet tall.

Entering the accommodation in the silo, the entrance area seamlessly flows into a unique circular living room, an intimate space designed for comfort and relaxation.

Two cozy leather armchairs catch the eye immediately, perfectly positioned for heart-to-heart conversations or solitary moments of reflection.

For those seeking entertainment, a modern flat-screen TV is strategically mounted above a magnificent gas fireplace.

Whether you want a movie night or just enjoy the warmth of the flames with your favorite program in the background, this living room provides the perfect setting.

And let’s not forget about practicality: cleverly hidden under the spiral staircase is a discreet guest bathroom.

This space-saving design ensures that guests, even in the comfort of the living room, don’t have to go far for amenities.

Furthermore, the Owl’s Nest Silo House offers an extraordinary journey to the height of comfort.

To reach the magnificence of the fourth floor with the master bedroom, you embark on a charming ascent through 45 winding steps.

The second floor offers a cozy bedroom for three people.

Here, Gerald has created a custom bunk bed with a double bed below and a single bed above.

Meanwhile, he had a challenge to overcome: accommodating a bathroom on a floor with a bedroom.

The solution? The entire third floor is dedicated to this spacious bathroom serving both bedrooms.

But what makes it special is the expansive shower that makes typical ones in houses seem tiny.

It’s pure luxury that allows guests to pamper themselves in style.

The culmination of this architectural masterpiece is the master bedroom, featuring a 16-foot high ceiling and a luxurious king-size bed.

Gerald put heart, soul, and countless hours into this project.

The Silo recently opened its doors to the first guests.

Curious about the prices? It costs $175 per night, with a minimum stay of two nights and an additional cleaning fee.

But be warned, as Gerald kindly advises: if you’re looking for a Disneyland-like experience, this might not be suitable for you.

This is a destination for those who truly appreciate nature.

Gerald and his family carried out the entire construction themselves, with occasional support from their architecture student nephew.

For those interested, the cabin is already listed on Airbnb under „Ferienunterkünfte Chase County,“ and the accommodation in the silo will soon complete its ranks.

„To say it’s been a labor of love, I mean, we’ve spent so much time here.

If I were to be paid for this, I wouldn’t want to say how many hours it took because it’s not a typical construction,“ Gerald said.
