Adrienne and Dave are not your typical couple, and they have developed a truly unique plan for their retirement!

After selling their family home to their son, they built a tiny house on wheels where they intend to spend their golden years in style.

With approximately 2.5 meters in width and 7.2 meters in length, this tiny house is a significant adventure in downsizing for the couple, who previously lived in a much larger farmhouse.

Despite the drastic difference in size, they say it was easy to integrate their lives into the house, as they are accustomed to traveling and living out of suitcases, bringing only a few things into the new tiny house on wheels.

Upon entering the tiny house, you are immediately greeted by a warmth and country charm that permeates the entire wooden home.

The layout is simple and follows a very traditional design for tiny homes.

Adrienne had a lot of fun decorating the place, although she admits it’s not yet entirely at the level of her daughter, whom she would like to bring along for some additional shopping.

Boldly, they decided to use a ladder to access the loft.

The reason was to create a sense of additional space inside the house, even though Adrienne admits that if they were to build again, they would install a staircase instead for easier access.

In the meantime, they have no issues using the ladder for now.

The living room is simple, cozy, and also offers some beautiful views of the countryside.

An old barn in the nearby farm is framed like a continuously changing painting by the large living room window and serves as a wonderful place to spend hours daydreaming.

The kitchen is again simple and extremely practical, providing an ample amount of workspace for cooking, along with a full-size oven with grill and a refrigerator powered directly by the house’s solar power system (not yet installed).

Adrienne even claims that this tiny kitchen at home offers her more functional space than her last house.

The upper loft matches the rustic style of the house and is wonderfully cozy.

The mattress is currently on a traditional frame and will likely be replaced in the future with a futon to offer more headspace.

However, the small loft serves the purpose of being a cozy retreat to rest their heads at night.

The house is located on a farm that the couple purchased five years ago.

Half of the 8-hectare land was sold along with their old house to the couple’s son, while the other half remains on a title still owned by Adrienne and Dave, for their tiny house.

This allows them to free up part of the capital for their retirement while staying close to their family.

The idea of the perfect retirement is different for everyone.

For some, it means enjoying all the material acquisitions of a lifetime of work.

For others, like Dave and Adrienne, it means simplifying life and downsizing, creating space for things that are truly important to the couple, such as family, leisure time, travel, and experiences.

Personally, I can’t think of a better way to do it.
