No one had touched the grandfather’s 200-year-old cottage for 10 years, until the grandson turned it into a beautiful new home!

The house remained empty for a decade, so Jack decided to completely renovate it into a new dwelling.

The family was shocked when they saw the final result.

Have you ever dreamt of staying in an Irish cottage? It has something charming and welcoming.

For visitors to Mullinahone, Ireland, this dream vacation can become a reality when a man named Jack Shelly completes the renovation of his grandfather’s 200-year-old cottage.

Jack’s grandfather purchased the cottage in 1959 when he was 29 years old.

„So, my father, his parents, and his five siblings grew up in this two-room house,“ Jack said in his video.

„Without insulation and single-pane windows.“

Jack’s grandfather lived in this house until his death in 2010 at the age of 89.

Many repair interventions were needed.

The cottage passed to Jack’s father and remained in ruins for about a decade.

„Since then, it has remained empty and slowly deteriorated.

Earlier this year, I decided to bring it back to life,“ Jack told Newsflare.

Jack decided not only to modernize and repair the cottage but also to turn it into something new: a business.

With a budget of just under $30,000, he renovated the apartment so that it could be used as an Airbnb rental.

But there was a lot of work to be done before the renovation could begin.

„My father and I started cleaning and removing everything that was unnecessary.

When the cleaning was complete, it was time to start the actual renovation,“ Jack said.

This was when Jack had another brilliant idea.

He began documenting his progress on social media.

And his work completely captivated others on TikTok and Instagram.

His videos went viral, and Jack had thousands of viewers following the progress of the renovation.

„It was at that moment that I documented the journey on TikTok and Instagram.

This video went viral, and I gained 45,000 followers in 24 hours.

Since then, I have thoroughly documented the entire process, and it has been really fun interacting with people through these platforms,“ Jack explained.

Jack did much of the work himself. You can see him in the video removing large amounts of vegetation that had grown on the house.

He cuts parts of the walls, breaks windows and sinks, and removes the cement in the foundation with a jackhammer.

Jack also used a bulldozer and a pressure washer on some parts of the property.

There was a lot to do.

He had to put new sheets on the roof, do insulation, windows, electrical and plumbing installations.

And it’s not finished yet, but the results so far are absolutely exceptional.

„I hoped to finish it by the end of August, but now it seems more likely by the end of October.

When it’s done, I’ll put it up for rent on Airbnb.“

We’re not sure if Jack has finished already, but the exterior of the house already looks drastically different from before.
