A couple transformed a grain silo purchased on eBay for 1 dollar into a tiny house that resembles a stunning industrial castle

An English sculptor decided to step out of his comfort zone and turn the shell of a grain silo into a surprising tiny house that reflects the beauty and elegance of an industrial castle.

Bob Campbell is more than just a sculptor; he is an artist of brass scrap.

His creativity is extraordinary, and his innovative tiny house is proof of that.

For 20 years, he has been creating things from recycled materials, primarily from brass scrap.

For Bob, everything changed when he found the shell of a grain silo on eBay for £1 ($1.27 USD).

Initially, he thought of turning it into an art project, but it evolved into an unimaginable project for a tiny house.

The £1 grain silo was 16 feet tall, so he had to resize it to fit.

With the help of his wife Caroline, they built it and saw what would come out of it.

The couple’s tiny house is surrounded by trees and is located behind their extensive garden, which has always been their sanctuary.

There are artistic details everywhere showcasing Bob’s artistic skill.

Inside the house, there is a blend of metal and wood that creates a unique atmosphere.

It also exudes an artistic and welcoming ambiance.

The concept of the tiny house is impressive in itself, but even more astonishing is that everything was made by Bob, including the fireplace made from a gas cylinder.

He collected scrap materials and transformed them into furniture and home accessories.

He particularly likes heavily rusted remnants, and after polishing, they regain their luster.

Chains are a recurring theme in the Campbell’s silo tiny house.

The armrest of their sofa is made from chains, surprisingly comfortable.

Their dining table was crafted from an old saw blade embedded in concrete, with chains incorporated in the center.

The walls were built using old pallet pieces, cut like bricks, attached to the wall, and polished.

Since the silo is a cold metal structure, the couple uses recycled plastic as insulation and a vapor barrier to address condensation issues.

“It was quite tricky to insulate the roof properly.

Presumably, spray foam would be better to get complete coverage so that with frost, some condensation can form on the inside of the roof, but once the fire is on, it burns off in 10 minutes,” explained Bob.

The tiny house also has a back door leading to a small gray water treatment system that filters everything from their sink.

The kitchen is small but equipped with all the necessary appliances and utensils.

There is also ample storage space for food and spices.

For dishwashing, the couple uses a 130-year-old bowl given to them by a neighbor.

Their bathroom has a round shower, a composting toilet, and functional shelves.

Above the bathroom is their beautiful sleeping loft with a functional ladder, also built by Bob.

“I wanted to make something that could be pulled down and used, and that could be put away to create a feeling of more space,” said Bob.

Caroline loves this cozy space and finds it beautiful to wake up in the morning and see all the wood around her.

The total cost of their tiny house was only about £4,000, including the land, construction, and some landscaping.

Thanks to Bob’s creativity and exceptional craftsmanship, the couple did not spend a lot of money on building this wonderful tiny house.

Initially, the couple did not expect the place to be suitable for an extended stay.

However, now they have been living their best lives there for over five years.

For Bob, a successful artist, it’s wonderful to live in his own work of art.

“I think you constantly get a little ego boost.

You look around and think, ‘Wow, this looks fantastic, I did it. It’s great to live in something you built yourself.’
