During the renovation of the building, the owners of the old house decided to ask their friends if they needed things that had been unused in the attic for many years and would likely end up in the trash.
One of the family’s friends was a man who volunteered to take a look at the storage.
His attention was drawn to an old iron box: a massive chest serving as a table in the attic.
The owners were not particularly interested in what was inside the chest.
According to the elderly couple, they had purchased the chest with the house 30 years ago, and it simply served as a dusty table in the attic.
Now, they decided to renovate the attic and began dismantling things that were no longer needed.
Upon careful examination, the man realized that the chest was a structure resembling an old safe with a rather reliable lock.
In the same attic, some other boxes were found that could be opened quite easily, but there was nothing inside.
But the iron table surprised the man. It turned out to be an old safe, containing some old banknotes: British pounds.
It wasn’t clear how they ended up there, but the elderly owners of the house were just as surprised by the discovery as the man.
Upon counting, it was discovered that the „table“ contained about twenty thousand British pounds from 30 years ago.
The amount, though modest by today’s standards, proved to be very useful for renovating an old attic.
