She could hardly believe she had built this little house on her own, but she was satisfied with the result. Truly an ideal retirement home!
Daisy, Allyson’s little house, was created as an alternative for retirement.
Seven years ago, she realized she wouldn’t be able to afford rent once retired.
With minimal savings and no pension from her employer, she gathered the courage (and knowledge) to build her small house.
Allyson’s hard work has paid off; now she has a wonderful home.
She desired a larger living space because she wanted to spend most of her time indoors.
The sofa is built with two Ikea shelves positioned sideways and covered with a mattress that serves as both a sofa and a bed.
She placed removable shelves underneath to store her dog Tucker’s toys, hobby materials, and shoes.
Her red leather armchair is one of her favorite pieces in her home.
It has an adjustable headrest and a foldable footrest, making it ideal for reading and sleeping.
The armchair is next to an oil-filled radiator with a smoothed wooden block on top, serving as a modest table.
Next to the sofa, there’s a counter with sufficient height for work and dining.
When not eating, she dedicates her time to her hobbies and other paper-based activities.
Allyson has some shelves she built in a women’s woodworking lab.
She has a small closet she calls her „office“ because it contains most of her office supplies.
Allyson’s kitchen is spacious enough for cooking and even bathing Tucker!
She has a cooking range and oven, along with a beautiful broken glass and resin countertop.
Her sink is large and deep enough to hold pots, pans, and Tucker.
You’ll notice a clean white wall above her sink, and you’ll be surprised to find additional storage space there.
Allyson keeps her washer and dryer there, along with her clothes and other household appliances.
The fridge is next to it, integrating well with the white background.
She also has shelves and other pull-out containers under the stairs to create additional storage space.
Allyson made do with the smaller space in her bathroom.
She had a decomposing toilet, a sink, and a narrow sink, and a small circular shower space with a deep zinc basin as a shelf.
Everything in her bathroom is ingenious, including the Hula-Hoop ring that holds her shower curtain!
Her attic bedroom is large enough for a mattress and some of her personal belongings.
Allyson realized that climbing into her attic bedroom could be difficult, so she added some safety handles.
Thanks to the windows, the attic receives plenty of natural light and a beautiful view outside.
Since space in a small house is limited, Allyson utilized every square inch to store her clothes in the corner under the ceiling.
But Allyson’s favorite passion was being outside.
She created this place so that she could have coffee or tea with relatives or friends who came to visit her.
It allows her to appreciate the surroundings around Daisy, with all the chairs, plants, and tall trees.
This place completes her little haven in this neighborhood.
