A man buys a double-decker bus from the 1950s, originally used as a mobile kiosk, and transforms it into a quirky tiny home.

This is a fascinating story about a double-decker bus that once served as a commuter bus in the 1950s before becoming someone’s home.

The charming vehicle had a long life on the road before retirement.

After operating as a commuter bus in Manchester, UK, it was transferred to San Francisco and then to Mount St. Helens, where it was used as a tourist bus.

Then came the well-deserved rest. Matt bought it and turned it into a mobile kiosk.

It was taken to Portland, Oregon, becoming famous as the renowned „Grilled Cheese Grill.“

Portland residents seem to love food and drinks, so the bus became very popular during the nine years it was active.

Then someone had the idea that it could serve as a tiny home. And so it was done.

Whit Scott had already seen the bus when it belonged to Matt, then he found it, bought it for $8,000, and decided to turn it into a real home.

He renovated it with the help of his family for about five months, and the entire project cost about $22,000, including the purchase price.

Scott is truly proud of the current look of his tiny home, and his family has been renting it on Airbnb since August.

The proud owner guides us through his tiny home, and we are absolutely thrilled.

It’s cute that he has preserved the „Grilled Cheese Grill“ sign, and even more fantastic is that the wheels move when you turn the steering wheel!

Inside, the main entrance is a door added when it was still a mobile kiosk.

The visitor enters the kitchen area, small but very functional.

There’s a nice workspace and everything you need for coffee or a quick lunch. There’s also a microwave and a mini-fridge.

Next is the living area, essentially a lounge surrounded by eccentric paintings that have been there for about a decade.

The bathroom is small but lovely. Scott’s father personally worked on the bathroom door and is quite proud.

Inside is fantastic: a normal-sized shower, a mini sink, and a composting toilet.

Exactly what a guest needs.

Going up the stairs, you find the only bedroom in the house.

It has a queen-size bed and a cozy space that will soon host something akin to a home theater.

Outside, Scott and his father have just created a small terrace and an area where their guests can have a drink and have fun.

Scott, an entrepreneur, explains that he eventually got tired of working in front of a computer screen, and it was at that moment that he decided to change his life.

Today, he renovates trailers and calls himself a „Tiny Home Builder.“

Scott is living his best life, and so is his double-decker bus!
